Care Instructions

Preserve the beauty of your handcrafted pieces with these simple care guidelines.

Overview

General Care Tips

Avoid Moisture

Most handcrafted materials are sensitive to water. Keep items dry and wipe immediately if they get wet.

Limit Sun Exposure

Prolonged direct sunlight fades colours, warps wood, and yellows resin. Display in indirect light.

Regular Dusting

Dust weekly with a soft dry cloth. Regular maintenance prevents buildup that requires harsh cleaning.

Handle with Care

Always lift from the base - never by protruding parts. Transport wrapped in soft material.

By Material

Care by Material

Dry immediately after contact with waterCoconut oil prevents tarnishAvoid bleach & acids

Daily Cleaning

  • Wipe with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust
  • Avoid abrasive scrubbers or rough cloths that can scratch the surface

Deep Cleaning

  • Mix lemon juice and salt or baking soda into a paste, apply gently with a soft cloth, then rinse with water and dry immediately
  • For polished brass, use a commercial brass polish sparingly
  • Always dry thoroughly - moisture causes tarnishing

What to Avoid

  • Avoid direct contact with water for prolonged periods
  • Keep away from harsh chemicals, bleach, and acidic cleaners
  • Do not soak in water - this accelerates oxidation
  • Avoid storing in damp or humid environments

Storage

  • Wrap in a soft cloth or tissue before storing
  • Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight
  • A thin coat of coconut or baby oil can help prevent tarnishing during storage
Never use acidic cleanersAlways lift - never dragpH-neutral soap only

Daily Cleaning

  • Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth or feather duster
  • Wipe with a barely damp cloth for surface stains - avoid excess moisture

Deep Cleaning

  • Use a mild, pH-neutral soap diluted in water
  • Apply with a soft cloth, wipe clean, then dry immediately with a dry cloth
  • Avoid vinegar, lemon juice, or acidic cleaners - these etch marble surfaces

What to Avoid

  • Never use acidic or abrasive cleaners on marble
  • Avoid placing on uneven or rough surfaces - marble can chip
  • Do not drag across hard surfaces - always lift
  • Keep away from oil spills - stone is porous and absorbs stains

Storage

  • Wrap in bubble wrap or soft foam for transport
  • Store upright or well-supported - marble is heavy and can crack under uneven pressure
  • Avoid extreme temperature changes which can cause micro-cracking
Wipe in grain directionNever soak or leave wetBeeswax maintains lustre

Daily Cleaning

  • Wipe with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth
  • Always wipe in the direction of the wood grain to avoid scratching

Deep Cleaning

  • Use a damp cloth with a drop of mild soap for stubborn stains
  • Dry immediately and thoroughly after cleaning - wood swells with moisture
  • Apply furniture polish or beeswax occasionally to maintain lustre

What to Avoid

  • Never soak wooden items or leave them in standing water
  • Avoid placing in direct sunlight for long periods - it fades and warps wood
  • Do not use harsh chemical cleaners or solvents
  • Keep away from extreme heat sources (heaters, stoves)

Storage

  • Store in a cool, dry place with stable humidity
  • Keep away from air conditioning vents - extreme dryness causes cracking
  • Wrap in soft cloth for storage to prevent scratches
Never submerge in waterHandle with both handsDust with soft brush only

Daily Cleaning

  • Dust with a soft, dry brush or cloth
  • Avoid wet cleaning as much as possible - clay is porous

Deep Cleaning

  • Wipe gently with a barely damp cloth if needed
  • Allow to air dry completely - never store while damp
  • For decorated or painted clay, avoid rubbing painted areas

What to Avoid

  • Do not submerge in water - terracotta absorbs moisture and can crack
  • Avoid contact with oils or greasy substances
  • Handle with care - clay is fragile and chips easily
  • Do not place outdoors in rain or frost

Storage

  • Wrap in tissue paper and store in a dry box
  • Keep elevated from the floor - moisture from floor can seep up
  • Store away from heavy objects that could fall on them
No acetone / nail removerAvoid prolonged sunlightHeat causes warping

Daily Cleaning

  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust
  • Resin surfaces are relatively low-maintenance

Deep Cleaning

  • Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed
  • Dry with a soft cloth - resin does not absorb water but standing water can dull the finish

What to Avoid

  • Avoid harsh chemical cleaners and solvents (especially acetone/nail polish remover)
  • Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods - UV causes yellowing over time
  • Avoid high heat - resin can warp or deform
  • Handle painted details gently to avoid chipping

Storage

  • Wrap in soft cloth or bubble wrap for long-term storage
  • Store in a cool, shaded area away from direct sunlight
  • Avoid stacking heavy items on top
Cold gentle wash onlyDry in shade alwaysCedar repels moths

Daily Cleaning

  • Shake gently to remove dust
  • Use a soft brush for embroidered or embellished items

Deep Cleaning

  • Spot clean with a damp cloth - avoid soaking
  • For washable items, use gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent
  • Dry in shade - never machine dry handcrafted textiles
  • Do not wring - gently squeeze out excess water

What to Avoid

  • Avoid bleach or strong detergents on dyed fabrics
  • Keep away from direct sunlight - colours fade
  • Do not iron embellished or embroidered areas directly - use a press cloth
  • Store away from moisture and pests

Storage

  • Fold neatly and store in a breathable cotton bag
  • Use cedar balls or neem sachets to deter moths
  • Avoid plastic bags for long-term storage - fabric needs to breathe
